As beauty and skincare lovers, we’re always reading different views and opinions suggesting a forever changing skin-care routine to match the weather. Here at OFRA, we are prepared for every climate, so today we’re going to set some things straight! Keep on scrolling to hear some extremely common winter skincare myths and how we suggest to take care of your outer beauty instead
You don't have to wear sunscreen because the sun “isn't as strong”
It may seem crazy, but the clouds don’t actually protect our skin from UVA rays. Additionally, as the skin on our face is very sensitive, it is crucial to use sun protection all year round. We suggest incorporating our Vitamin C Cream into your regime, either on its own or before your makeup! Not only will this keep your face deliciously hydrated during the weather change, but also prevent sun damage at the same time for those sunny spells. Be sure to reapply throughout the day if you’re planning to spend the whole day out.
Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer
Another common myth is for our Beauties out there with an oilier skin type. Some believe that due to the natural oiliness from the skin, it’s enough to keep the skin hydrated during the colder months and they can skip moisturizer completely. In reality, moisturizer should be used no matter what skin type, especially to protect your face from dirt and bacteria. Instead of cutting it out completely, try finding a product that incorporates your texture, because the less you moisturize = the more natural oils coming through, which = breakouts! We suggest using our Oil-Free Moisturizer to help the skin stay nourished but prevent any excess, unwanted oils.
Exfoliating in the winter promotes dry patches
We all know that during the colder period our skin can become extra dry and patchy. The truth is, your skin is shedding for a reason so embrace it! Rather, use a gentle exfoliant to get rid of any dead skin cells before they’re able to trap any unwanted bacteria. Pick up our Coffee Body Scrub to induce smoother and healthier-looking skin with a caffeine boost.
Extra layers of high-tech clothing is a must-have
Of course, keeping warm is a must, but choose wisely when picking the fabrics you decide to wear, especially when wearing a turtleneck, hat, or scarf that will be touching or close to your face and neck. We suggest staying away from Nylon and Polyester, as they can trap dead cells, oils, and dirt which may lead to clogged pores and uncomfortable bumps. Reach for more natural fabrics and of course...MOISTURIZE. With our Hydra-Nourishing Body Lotion enriched with Shea Butter (an antioxidant and moisturizing agent), you’ll feel breezy and fresh! You’re welcome.
Your skin will look better if you stay inside all-day
Although it may seem that the cold outside will dry out your skin, blasting the heater inside can be even worse for you so try keeping a balance. Pay close attention to your skin during the night, as this is when the skin is more likely to absorb any excess water. To do so, add a hydrating night cream to your regime to keep your skin nourished and flawless.
Incorporating these little changes into your skincare routine will keep your body ready for those colder days. Take a look at the rest of our skincare products to ensure your skin stays this way all year round!
