Makeup Trends from the 2017 Met Gala

I always look forward to the first Monday in May. The Met Gala, an annual fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, is often referred to as the Super Bowl for the fashion industry. Each year, designers and their muses come out for a celebrity-packed event sporting elaborate ensembles and carefully crafted makeup looks. Last year's Met Gala ignited all kinds of beauty inspiration for the following year. This particular kind of red carpet is where trends are born and last night was no exception. Several A-Listers dawned similar trends in their own unique ways and we're here for it! If you're anything like us, you've already screenshotted your favorite look and are just waiting for the right moment to rock it. Check out five of the OFRA social team's picks below!

Graphic eyeliner is nothing new at the Met Gala but it's never looked so fresh when paired with the perfect nude lip and natural blush. To acheive this trend, apply our Black Fixline Eyeliner Gel with Eyeliner Brush #1 for the most precise line. Finish with Black HD Mascara for a lengthening and separating effect.

I don't know about you but I am delighted to see some orange-red lips because it means summer is that much closer. Orange-based reds tend to flatter most skin tones and help warm up the face. It's modern, youthful and totally underrated. Venice Liquid Lipstick is the only orange-red lippie you'll need this season. We guarantee it. For a super defined lip, pair with Delicious Red Lip Liner.

Who doesn't love nudes? We should all have our favorite nude lip handy at any given time because - when in doubt - it matches with EVERYTHING. Whether your style is true nude, pale nude or "my lips but better" nude, OFRA has you covered. Shop our full nude liquid lipstick collection HERE.

After the monochromatic trend went full throttle, I was pleasantly surprised to see two-toned looks on the red carpet last night. Pink eyes and red lips specifically made a huge statement at the Met Gala and Rihanna took it all the way. RiRi was still giving us Coachella vibes with her bold pink highlighter which can easily be acheived with OFRA's Cheeky Highlighter. "Draping" - highlighting and sculpting with blush instead of contour - is bound to skyrocket after the singer flawlessly adorned it. If subtlety is more your style, swipe on some blush onto your lids and pair with your favorite red lipstick. OFRA's Atlantic City Liquid Lipstick is the perfect classic red shade.

You don't necessarily have to go bold to get noticed on the red carpet. These ladies absolutely nailed the "less is more" approach last night. Barely there makeup is perfectly in keeping with the "skin care as makeup" trend we've been seeing so much of lately and is destined to be a hit this summer season. Glowing skin is essential for this look and the On The Glow Palette will be your best friend for all things bronzing and highlighting.
