Must Have Mattes Challenge
Posted on 16 August 2017
This week the OFRA Team challenged themselves using one palette for an eye look and only one row in that palette to complete it. Our new Must Have Mattes Palette was the product of choice since it was designed to be able to create a single look within one row. We quickly divvied up the rows to each person and put our skills to the test! Check out the results and see what each girl had to say:
First Row: Melanie
“I loved challenging myself to use only 4 shadows from 1 row in this palette. It’s a great way to get outside of your comfort zone and explore new makeup looks that you wouldn’t normally try. It pushed me to create a lighter matte shade using my concealer and setting powder to carve out my top lid. Plus you can always pop out the godets from your favorite row and put them in a Pop-Up Palette with the rest of your essentials for traveling!”
Second Row: Carine
"So, I am not going to lie and am going to admit I struggled a bit with my row of shades. I am totally a shimmer and glittery eye shadow person so doing a matte look especially with such dark colors was challenging. I am going to say I am glad it pushed me out of my comfort zone to try something different and in any event I had fun trying to create a look from a limited amount of colors :)"
Third Row: Mariel
“It was fun creating a look with colors I normally don’t reach for! For contrast, I added a bit of Sapphire Eyeliner along my waterline to finish off the look. I enjoy a good challenge but I wish I had the Dazzling Diamonds Palette to add just a touch of shimmer in the center of my eye look. Nonetheless- I liked how it came out and I love the way matte shadows look! For someone who doesn’t do eyeshadow often because my eyelids are super creasy, I found it pretty simple to create the look since it was designed to be used that way, but of course, there are a million other ways you can use this palette too!”
Fourth Row: Gabby
“The Must Have Mattes Palette is an essential palette! It was literally made for your to create a full look just using one row, it's that simple, no need to get overwhelmed with what look to choose when there are suggestions right there for you. I love that the rows are enough for a day to night look. I used the 4th row from the top, this is my FAVORITE row in the whole palette. The colors range from mauves to deeper brown tones, making it easy for me to use the row exactly from left to right. A base and brow bone color, crease color, and two deeper shades for the outer V and lower lash line. Honestly... what more do you need!”
Last Row: Kate
“There is something incredibly edgy about an all matte, colorful smokey eye. As soon as we were assigned our “row” from the palette, I knew that’s exactly what I was going for. I wanted to go all in. Being that the rows fade from light to dark, but are in the same color scheme, made this look really simple. I just concentrated the most intense green shadow on my lid, and smoked it out using the other shades.”
