The Best of Fall 2018 Fashion Week
Posted on 23 February 2018
Fashion week whether in New York, Milan or Paris is something special to witness and be a part of. Everyone pulls out their most innovative and creative outfits whether representing their favorite designers or simply their own personal style. Per usual there were notes of glitter, bold color, super-natural looks complimented by show-stopping outfits, sleek ponytails and so much more with a 2018 twist. We’ve compiled some of the most noteworthy trends seen on this years fall 2018 runway:
Dyed Bobs & Wigs
Marc Jacobs & Jeremy Scott
While both designers went for a similar inspired hair look on their runway shows with styled bobs and a major hair dye, but each did make up a bit differently. Marc Jacobs opted for a more exaggerated glitter smokey eye while Jeremy Scott went for 3D eye effects and festival vibe makeup with brighter color play.
Tom Ford & Adam Selman
With a touch of punk glamour from different eras, these two designers nailed their looks. Glitter, sequins, animal print, fishnets, large hoops and thick leather headbands with tousled up-dos and smudged smokey eyes were seen consistently throughout Tom Fords models. Adam Selman's design was more contemporary and playful yet feature a certain “70’s airbrushed glam” with punk-greased hair (some even rocked Violette's aka- a face veil, how chic!)
Kate Spade & Prada
“Millennial Dolly Parton” as Kate Spade describes her look this fall. With an otherwise soft, neutral face, these Swarovski crystals became the “it” factor next to the garments. Prada takes its crystal game up just another level with its bold graphic shadow underlay to match the vibrancy of these eye-catching outfits seen in Milan.
Prabal Gurung & Alexander Wang
It’s noteworthy that these accordion headbands and banana clips were brought back by each of these designers. Past trends turned new runway chic styles that my inner 90’s child is loving!
A Touch of Gold
Ulla Johnson & Brandon Maxwell & Cushnie et Ochs
Ulla Johnson’s collection of pure feminine grace is even more defined with the models youthful and natural beauty enhanced with gold flakes on the lids of each model bringing the look to a higher level of elegance. While Brandon Maxwell took a softer approach to the use of gold, makeup artist Tom Peacheux uses a gold lip gloss and an angled lip brush to define the Cupid’s Bow to add that extra glamour completing the lips with a red matte lipstick. With the use of subtlety comes Cushnie et Ochs sexy and sophisticated collection paired with an inner corner gold glow and burgundy lips on each of their models.
Graphic Eye Looks
Anna Sui & Jason Wu
Anna Sui's signature aesthetic of mixing fabrics and patterns was no different. Her looks were styled with 80’s inspired hair flips and colorful graphic shadows and the lashes to go with it. Jason Wu went graphic with playful eyeliner looks on his models in shades of black gel liner, and yellow, orange, and pink shadows to soften up any harsh lines complimenting his linear yet elegant silhouettes.
All in all, each designer brought something special and new trends for us all from their designs to the styling of hair, makeup, and accessories, pulling it all together and creating a beautiful presentation of their collections. It’s safe to say glitter, gold, pops of color and unique placement of eyeshadows are here to stay. Who else is excited that their childhood hair accessories are officially back in style? And let's not forget bedazzling our faces. We’re here for it!
