How to Prep Skin for Makeup

Pharrell Williams, known beyond his musical and fashionable influences for his impeccable skin, said, “You have to clean your face; you can’t sit around and assume it’s going to be ok.” In other words, pay attention to your skin!

During a radio interview with Angie Martinez, he revealed his flawless skincare secret,“Washing my face, paying attention to it…I mean little small stuff. Naomi Campbell taught me a couple of tricks back in the day... Washing my face with cold water to keep pores closed, little small stuff. You just gotta wash your face.”

Coming from the man who has sipped from the Fountain of Youth, we’ll take his advice!

Building on Pharrell’s regime, OFRA’s skin care philosophy begins with clean skin. We recommend a cleanser or toner instead of makeup wipes that can irritate, leaving skin blotchy and red. Wipes are often too rough for delicate skin.

Before starting your beauty routine in the morning, use one of OFRA’s cleansers like Kiwi Foaming Cleanser, formulated to provide maximum comfort. It is hypoallergenic and perfect for all skin types. Foaming Vitamin C Cleanser is a fantastic choice for combination and oily skin with its refreshing citrus scent and powerful cleansing action.
Next, apply a hydrating moisturizer to keep skin soft and smooth or you can use an anti-aging brightening mask to rejuvenate tired skin like OFRA’s Whitening Mask.

It’s important to remove any excess oils by blotting gently with Oil Control Powder to decrease shine and touch up with a suitable shade in compact Wet & Dry Foundation to help your makeup stay on all day the right way.

Too much skin care can be a nightmare when you’re ready to apply makeup. Products with excess SPF and oil can decrease your primer’s hold and you’ll wind up reapplying which is what we want to prevent!

We often forget how prone our lips are to cancer and severe sun damage that promotes aging. It’s important to take care of your lips by using a conditioner or balm. Start with a Lip Exfoliator to remove any excess skin. Then, apply OFRA’s Vitamin E Lipstick that has essential antioxidants and SPF to protect and heal dry damaged lips. Let that set on your lips while you proceed with your skin care routine.

Lastly, apply a serum that hydrates and holds your makeup. OFRA offers an extensive line of serums that target different areas like under the eye, neck or your entire face. Find out which ones are best for you by clicking here!

Make sure you’re using the right skin care products for your skin type. It can take a few trial and errors to master prepping for a day of flawless skin but it doesn’t have to be complicated. With OFRA products, simple can be better. Your skin can benefit from periodically rotating formulas. With so many new skin care products to choose from, OFRA has you covered!

Pretty easy, right? It all starts with a smooth canvas so we need to take great care of the underlying layer for a flawless finish on top. Now, you’re officially ready to move on to makeup. Knock’em dead, ladies!
