Fast and Flawless: Back to School Makeup Routine

Fast and Flawless: Back to School Makeup Routine

Going back to school is either one of two things for students: dreaded or exciting.  Getting back into the routine of getting up early and sitting in class all day can be pretty torturous, and the best way to combat the monotony of a school routine is to create a routine that makes you want to pop right out of bed in the morning.  That routine is a makeup routine, of course, so start off your year right by picking up some new products and experimenting with different looks.

Step 1: Moisturizer- For a healthy, hydrated glow, apply the Oil Free Moisturizer all over your face and neck.

Step 2: PRIMER! I can’t stress this step enough.  The last thing you want to realize during the day is that half the makeup on your face has either melted off from the remnants of the summer heat or smudged off after you’ve been resting your head on your hands during class.  The OFRA Absolute Cover Face Primer will keep your makeup on for 12 hours, far longer than the school day, while blurring the skin for a silky appearance.

Step 3: Foundation- I find it fairly unnecessary to wear foundation to school because it can feel uncomfortable throughout the day and you can always spot conceal any blemishes you have.  That being said, if you love wearing foundation, by all means go for it by using the Absolute Cover Silk Peptide Foundation or the Derma Mineral Powder Foundation.

Step 4: Concealer- If you end up picking the powder foundation, do this step before you apply the powder foundation.  For concealer, dot your Skin Sculpting Wand shade under your eyes and on the tops of your cheekbones, lifting your face.  Blend with the damp Perfecting Puff.  If you have any blemishes that need concealing, apply the Derma Tones Corrector Tri Pot in Light, Medium, or Deep with Brush #1 and pat it out.

Step 5: Powder- If you’ve decided to use the powder foundation, apply it now all over your face.  If you’ve used the liquid foundation or no foundation, set your face or concealed areas with the Translucent Powder and, for a light dusting,  apply it with the Fan Brush #7.

Step 6: Blush- Apply the Pressed Blush in your perfect shade with the Blush Brush #22.  To find out which shade works best for your skintone, check out our Most Flattering Blushes for Different Skintones blog post.

Step 7: Bronzer- Swirl the 3D Pyramid Egyptian Clay Bronzer on the perimeter of the face using the same brush to give your skin that “I’ve been at the beach all summer” glow, without the sun damage.

Step 8: Highlight (arguably the most exciting step)- The OFRA Highlighters are the best on the market because of the unique liquid to baked technology, combining the precision of a powder product with the buildable nature of a cream product.  Our On the Glow Palettecontains Beverly Hills, Blissful, Rodeo Drive, the California Dream Triangle, and the Americano Bronzer- basically all you’ll ever need for a lit from within natural (or not so natural) glow.  Build to desired intensity with the  Fan Brush #7 or the Nose Highlight & Dusting Brush #2 for a more targeted highlight.

Step 9: Brows- Shape your brows with the water and sweat-proof Eyebrow Gel using the Hard Angled Brush #4. A little product goes a long way so it’s best to use a light hand.

Step 10: Eyeshadow- You’ll want to keep the eyes quick and simple, so I recommend the ICE Cream Eyeshadow in “In the Flesh” for a quick swipe of color to brighten your eyes (we know school mornings can be rough!).

Step 11:  Mascara- Lastly for eyes apply a quick coat of the HD Volumizing Mascara, in Black for a more defined look or in Brown for a more natural look.

Step 12: Lipstick- For a liquid lipstick that lasts all day and doesn’t dry out your lips, try out one of our many shades (there are over 50!) of the OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick.  If you prefer only a hint of color, try out one of the Lipgloss shades instead.

Step 13: Setting Spray- Set your face using the Makeup Fixer and you are good to go!
