Did you know our skin is our largest organ (thank you Bio class!). Never let your skin become dry with the help of Moisturizers. Your skin should never be too dry or too oily. Already have oily skin? Don't skip this step. Check out the array of moisturizers and creams to suit your skin type.
Q: Is moisturizer good for your face?
A: Ironically, taking a shower depletes our skin of moisture. We have this filmy layer on our skin (more Bio to come) called the hydrolipidic film. This layer contains sweat, oil, and water and is made to defend against bacteria and keep skin hydrated. But when you shower or wash your face you take a toll on your skin’s ability to protect itself. Skin should never be too dry or too oily. Both extremes cause havoc on your face. Just because you have oily skin, doesn’t mean you should skip this step completely. Otherwise, skin irritations such as acne for oily skin types and dry patches for dry skin types will begin to appear.
Q: What is the best face moisturizer?
A: The best face moisturizer can differ from day-to-day based upon your skin type. If you have oily skin you should be using an oil free moisturizer. If you have dry skin, you should be packing on the moisture with ingredients like Vitamin C.
Q: Should I moisturize before applying makeup?
A: Always. The best kept not-so-secret about a flawless face, is that skin prep is just as important as the makeup that you apply. Spend as much time on your skin care as you do on your makeup and you will end up spending even less time to get ready. Before makeup, use a moisturizer that is going to set you up for the skin finish that you are looking for. Whether that’s matte, satin, or dewy, use a hydrator that will not work against your makeup routine.
